Update: CF was funded in entirety up to August 2021 by you in just a day! Thank you so much. We’ll shortly be posting a list of supporters who’ve kept us online for another year. You can always make a one-off or recurring donation at any time using the Paypal button below – everything goes back into Commodore Format.
Hello! It’s, er, that time again. If you love Commodore Format we’re asking you to consider helping us with the cost of keeping the site online for another year. You can do that by clicking the Paypal button down there and donating £1 or whatever other sum you’d like.
In the spirit of transparency, WordPress will charge us £89 for another year on August 3rd. That’s all we need. When we reach that, we’ll close the campaign. As a thanks, we’ll mention you on the site as a supporter.
The website underwent a huge overhaul in design and content last year thanks to you, and we’ll carry on that mammoth task. But your quid will also help guarantee more of this into 2021:
- A page for every issue of CF, exploring each month of the mag with links to a separate cover tape feature, the subscriber newsletter and more. These pages are being overhauled monthly with new images, info and made, well, better. It’s the ultimate guide to the C64 mag you love, with behind-the-scenes stories, gossip and analysis. Plus, of course, links to every CF!
- Exclusive interviews with CF stars and C64 people and exclusive news. We ran Martin Walker’s first interview in 25 years last year, and we broke the story that Minit was coming to C64 too. There was the first chat with the man who’s hoping to bring Parasol Stars to the machine, and a natter with the man behind Little Big Planet who’s coding a Sackboy game for our fave computer.
- More ’90s games features like our Best Budget series and long reads exploring games that just don’t get talked about – like Weird Licenses (McDonaldland, Viz and Monty Python).
Most importantly, you keep alive an archive of a magazine and era of the Commodore 64 that is loved by many but is often overlooked. No ads, no clickbait, no nonsense. We don’t have a monthly Patreon anymore; I do this site and the socials for a passionate love of the topic and give my time for free. If you like it, please consider chucking CF a quid or two. We have over 2,000 followers on social media, and tens of thousands of visitors a year to the site – we need fewer than 100 of you to donate in this, CF‘s thirtieth birthday year. Thank you very much! Neil Grayson, CF site editor
