These sort of game hacks were the source of endless confusion among readers. The letters were probably only outnumbered by the number of explanations CF ran! To use the cheats, C64 fans had to have an Action Replay cartridge, or something similar. Gamers would “freeze” the program mid game with the cart, enter the poke, restart the game and have infinite lives or whatever. Neat, eh?
Some kids discovered you could “reset” a C64 by shoving a paperclip into the back of their computers. Which did sometimes work. And did sometimes also trash their machines. Poke safe, people. Poke safe. CF
