Commodore Format was produced by Future Publishing (now Future plc). The business was started  in 1985 by ex Newsfield (ZZAP!, Crash) editor Chris Anderson. With a bank loan of £10,000, he launched Amstrad Action. It was not initially a success, but the addition of a covermounted cassette saw sales rocket and set the trend for Future’s magazines for years to come. The company quickly grew to have a magazine for every computer or console available in the UK. When it moved to its famous Bath offices in the New Year of 1989/90, the building was thought big enough to cope with years of expansion. In fact, with new titles launched thick and fast it was full within seven months. And one of those new magazines, in the Autumn, was CF.
